Jolene

Alt-country combo Jolene was shaped in early 1995 by singer/guitarist John Crooke and lead guitarist Dave Burris, 1st cousins given birth to and raised in small Wingate, NC. Bassist Mike Mitschele and drummer Mike Kenerley finished the initial lineup, which within weeks of forming documented its debut LP Hell’s Fifty percent Acre for Memphis’ famous Ardent Information; upon putting your signature on to Sire, Jolene resurfaced in 1998 with In the Gloaming, growing to some five-piece with the help of multi-instrumentalist Rodney Lanier. Antic Sea followed 2 yrs later.
