Johnny Messner

b. 13 Oct 1909, NEW YORK, NY, USA, d. January 1986, Ridgefield Recreation area, NJ, USA. A graduate of New York’s Institute of Musical Arts, Messner was among a family group of five musical brothers, along with his specialism spanning all of the reed devices. His resort orientated dance music group, formed in NEW YORK, NY, USA, in 1936, included music artists Shorty Skipper, Charles Cerborra, Shanty Diamant, Huff Allen, George Ward, Will Cottrell, Paul Kuhl, Augie Gonzales, Dick Cornell, Al Dell, Charles Gallant, Bobby Ruler and Russell Moss. The performers were Gladys Inform, Adam D’Arcy and Mindy Carson. They spent many years playing on the Resort MacAlpin in NY, with radio performances on the Limelight Rings and Fitch Bandwagon displays. They recorded broadly for Vocalion Information, Bluebird Information, Varsity, Decca Information and Brunswick Information, which hosted primary materials including ‘Getting The 802 Regional’, ‘Gadget Piano Minuet’, ‘Gadget Piano Leap’ and their theme melody ‘Can’t We End up being Close friends?’. The music group also made an appearance in a small number of Paramount movies.
