Johnie Lewis

Johnie Lewis was a good, if unexceptional, singer and guitarist within the Southern rural design, particularly achieved at playing slip. Though he was created in Alabama and grew into adulthood in Georgia, Lewis spent the majority of his existence in Chicago, shifting the city within the 1930s. A painter by occupation, Lewis just pursued music as an avocation, but through one of is own painting careers, he found the notice of the filmmaker performing a documentary about Chicago blues. His appearance for the reason that film result in recording classes for Arhoolie in the first ’70s.
