John Stetch

An excellent pianist whose improvisations are available to the impact of Globe Music, John Stetch has recorded frequently like a leader for the Terra Nova label since 1992. Stetch found out the music of Charlie Parker when he was ten and was quickly training on piano. After personal lessons, he shifted to Montreal and obtained a music level from McGill College or university. Stetch became a fixture in Montreal’s jazz picture. In 1992 he documented his debut for Terra Nova (Rectangle Guy). Later on in the entire year he shifted to NEW YORK although he still performed frequently in Canada. He joined up with TanaReid in 1994, documented several other models for Terra Nova and an recording of Ukranian folk music for Global Town (1996). Furthermore to his personal projects and documenting with TanaReid, John Stetch offers appeared on information by Ed Jackson, Chris Case, Takeshi Inomata and Charles Licata amongst others. But remaining near his own materials, Stetch released Heavens of 100 Times in fall 2000.
