John Stein

John Stein began his acoustic guitar education at age seven, showing an early on fascination with folk and classical music. Stein’s eventual absorption with jazz was an evolutionary procedure as opposed to the product of the defining second or two. It wasn’t until his teenagers that he began realizing jazz. The genre totally enveloped him at age 30, when he became students at Berklee University of Music in Boston where he later on joined up with the faculty. He views the music like a continuous challenge to help expand hone his carrying out and composing abilities and techniques. Through the developmental procedure, Stein was affected by many jazz performers, both guitarists and additional instrumentalists, including Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Hank Mobley, and Expenses Evans. The guitarist offers four albums being a head, two which are for a respected Western european label, Jardis. Both these CDs, the 2000 discharge Portraits and Scenery as well as the 2002 record, Conversation Parts, are dominated by Stein compositions, parts which are seen as a their different melodic and harmonic buildings. Stein has were able to stay away from the deep, dark gap of regular and repetition. The last mentioned record is also a celebration for the revisit by longtime Ray Charles’ tenor sax participant David “Fathead” Newman. Newman also made an appearance on Stein’s 1999 Compact disc Green Road. Stein can be highlighted on Ron Gill’s record Ron Gill Sings the Music of Billy Strayhorn, that was released in Dec 1997 by Boston’s WGBH Radio. The guitarist in addition has appeared at celebrations and concerts like the Boston World Jazz Celebration and New Orleans’ Funky Butt jazz clam bake. When Stein isn’t documenting, executing, or teaching, he loves listening to electric guitar and bass duets, specifically Jim Hall within a electric guitar/bass framework, and other performers such as Artwork Tatum, Stan Getz, and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
