John Snyder

One of the most important jazz record companies of days gone by 30 years, John Snyder on several events offers succeeded in saving an extensive number of noncommercial music. He proved helpful for CTI in the first ’70s, especially on periods by Jim Hall and Paul Desmond. Within the middle-1970s, he made the Horizon subsidiary for A&M, including a who’s who of contemporary jazz — Hall, Desmond, Ornette Coleman, Dave Brubeck, the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra and Charlie Haden. When that stint went out, Snyder documented lots of the same music artists for his Performers Home label — an organization notable because of its luxurious LP product packaging and quality music — from 1977-79. After that, John Snyder continues to be a significant behind-the-scenes player in charge of documenting many worth it dates.
