John McCusker


John McCusker was created in 1973 near Glasgow, Scotland. His musical skill surfaced early — at age group five he was playing the whistle and 2 yrs later he previously found the fiddle, which would stay his primary device (though he eventually found time and energy to gain amazing abilities on keyboards and cittern aswell). While still a kid he performed in youngsters orchestras, but as he contacted adolescence it became apparent that his potential lay down in traditional music. By age group 12 he was playing frequently with an area ceilidh music group, and soon after entering senior high school he produced an organization with many of his likewise willing classmates. The ensemble was known as Parcel O’Rogues, plus they documented an record for the reputed Scottish folk label Temple Information. It was at this time that McCusker’s musical lifestyle got a fateful switch. He went to a concert with the renowned Scottish group the Battlefield Music group, and took the chance to move them a tape of his group’s documenting. His fiddling produced a deep impression for the band, plus they maintained connection with him on the next couple of years as he began monitoring at Glasgow’s Royal Academy. When McCusker was 17, he was asked to become listed on the Battlefield Music group, a chance he considered as well great to miss, and certainly a far more promising and thrilling one than continuing academic research. He occupied the Battlefield Band’s fiddle seat for 11 years, where period he also performed on periods for such celebrated traditional performers as Linda Thompson and Tim O’Brien, along with the decidedly non-folk performers Teenage Fanclub, the Silencers, and BMX Bandits. It had been during this time period that he fulfilled Kate Rusby, a Yorkshire folksinger using a increasing international reputation. Both eventually wedded, and he became a member of her band in addition to becoming her manufacturer. He has held up a reliable stream of single are well, documenting an eponymous debut record in 1995, which he implemented up with Yella Hoose in 2000 and Goodnight Ginger in 2003. His single albums have already been fulfilled with significant important acclaim, and in 2000 he was presented with the Nature of Scotland Prize for Music.
