Hughey was presented with a Gene Autry flat-top electric guitar when he was nine yrs . old, however in his teenagers switched to metal guitar. He originally joined up with the Phillips State Ramblers and afterwards joined up with Slim Rhodes And Mom’s Greatest Mountaineers when their metal participant was drafted to Vietnam and remained with them for 15 years. In 1968 he fulfilled up along with his youth friend Conway Twitty and joined up with Twitty’s backing music group, the Unhappy Blue Young boys. His steel electric guitar playing was highlighted on Twitty’s initial US country #1 1, ‘Following In Range’. The Unhappy Blue Boys progressed in to the Twitty Wild birds and for a while, also included John’s sibling, Gene. His metal guitar using its ‘crying’ audio was featured of all of Conway’s chart-topping singles, but by 1980 Hughey was getting frustrated. Twitty got marketed the franchise for his souvenirs to some other company therefore his backing music artists no more received their percentage lower on the product sales. Twitty was also leaving the steel electric guitar and after many disappointed years, Hughey finally still left in 1988. He proved helpful for Loretta Lynn to get a year and afterwards collaborated with Vince Gill. His program function included two albums with Elvis Presley (From Elvis In Memphis andBack In Memphis) in addition to albums with Joe Diffie, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Dean Martin and Dolly Parton. He also documented and toured using the Nashville-based program players ‘supergroup’ enough time Jumpers.
