b. 1912, Westconnie, Tx, USA. John Hogg was the impetus behind Smokey Hogg’s (his cousin) decision to go after a music profession in LA in 1947. John have been there since 1942, after many years of roaming which required him as definately not his Texas house of Greenville as Denver, Colorado and Oklahoma – where he worked well like a rodeo performer. He was by no means a dedicated bluesman but do have the benefit of being shown some guitar from the Los Angeles-based Pee Wee Crayton. Hogg performed occasional gigs, keeping his day work. He documented for Mercury Information and Octive in 1951, most likely on the effectiveness of his romantic relationship with Smokey, and demonstrated himself a performer of some capability. His practice of dealing with music like a sideline continuing, although he do record once again for Advent Information in 1974, showing up that year in the NORTH PARK Blues Festival.
