John Heard

A very dear bassist, John Noticed has appeared within a many musical situations over time, generally distinguishing himself. He began playing saxophone but turned to bass before signing up for the Air Drive in 1958. After his release, Heard proved helpful in Pittsburgh, spent period living in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA (1966-1968) using Al Jarreau, and freelanced mainly in NY and LA. Among his many musical organizations have already been Booker Ervin, Wes Montgomery, Sonny Rollins, Randy Weston, Ahmad Jamal (1972-1977), the Count number Basie Orchestra (1974-1976), Toshiko Akiyoshi, Louie Bellson, the Oscar Peterson Trio, Joe Williams, Barney Kessel, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, plus numerous others. Because he’s a skilled musician, there were occasions when it made an appearance that John Noticed would retire from music, but his absences possess thankfully been quite short. His one time as a head occurred in 1983 for the small Los Angeles-based ITJ label.
