John Feeney

John Feeney can be an orchestral, chamber, and program double bassist in the busy NY scene. After research with Linda McKnight, he inserted the Juilliard College of Music in NY as a scholarship or grant student, acquiring bass with David Walter. In 1978, he gained a medal on the Geneva Competition, and in 1980, was initially prize winner from the Zimmerman-Mingus International Competition as well as the Concert Performers Guild Competition. In 1979, he became a member of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, among NY City’s main chamber orchestras. He’s wedded to Krista Bennion Feeney, a violinist who’s also an associate of St. Luke’s. Jointly, they focus on the violin-bass repertoire compiled by Bottesini (who was simply also a bassist wedded to some violinist), and Feeney takes on dual bass concertos frequently. Mr. Feeney regularly takes on chamber music and it has appeared at main festivals, like the Mt. Desert Isle, Spoleto, and Bridgehampton Celebrations. He has documented with the non-esuch, MusicMasters, Telarc, CBS, Arabesque, RCA, EMI, Sony, and BMG brands.
