John Cowan got his begin in Louisville, where he played in scrappy rock and roll outfits like PEOPLE and Louisville Audio Section. In 1974, he auditioned being a bassist and vocalist for New Lawn Revival, and as well as Sam Bush and afterwards bandmates Béla Fleck and Pat Flynn, led the charge from the 1980s’ bluegrass revival. New Lawn Revival disbanded in 1990 when Fleck departed for the single profession, but Cowan didn’t decelerate. He did length himself a little from NGR’s acoustic base, however, selecting to tour being a single rock and roll become well as front side the country-rock music group Sky Kings (with Poco’s Rusty Youthful). But despite composing an album, organizing the artwork, launching an individual, and placing a release time (March 27, 1997), the Sky Kings’ full-length sat on the shelf. Cowan following busied himself with single work with the Glucose Hill label. His produces there included an ambitious self-titled work in 2000, along with the lower-key Generally Take Me Back 2002. The entire year 2000 also noticed the final discharge from the Sky Kings record From Out of nowhere; the established included the complete original LP, in addition to demos and music that were eventually finished for the task. Cowan continued release a the occasional single project, like the great Sixty, which made an appearance in 2014 as Cowan himself strike that amount in age.
