A trumpet participant much influenced by Louis Armstrong, Hamilton produced his debut in 1931 with Chick Webb, and consequently used Cab Calloway, Sam Wooding, Teddy Hill and Fat Waller. Using the last he could be noticed on ‘You’re Allowing The Lawn Grow’ (1939), ‘Oh Frenchy’, ‘The Moon Is usually Low’, ‘You Operate THE MOUTH AREA And I’ll Operate My Business’ (1940) and ‘Chant FROM THE Groove’.
