John Brown’s Body

Named honoring the legendary abolitionist, reggae unit John Brown’s Body was led by singer/guitarist Kevin Kinsella, a longtime buff of Caribbean music who shaped the group Tribulations while going to college in Boston in 1989. 3 years later on they took best honors in the annual Yamaha Soundcheck competition, touring Japan because of this; in 1993 Tribulations also documented in Jamaica, liberating the LPs The Gate and Daddy Great Items before disbanding. Trying for a far more organic origins reggae audio, Kinsella founded John Brown’s Body in 1995 with bassist Joshua Neuman, keyboardist Sam Godin, trumpeter Paul Merrill, saxophonist Lee Hamilton, support vocalist Elliot Martin and drummer Tommy Benedetti; debuting in 1997 with All Period, the outfit authorized to Shanachie to concern the follow-up INCLUDED IN THIS two years later on. This Day adopted in early 2000.
