Johannes Heugel

The initial works of the German-Flemish composer date from around 1531 when he was asked to compose a satire and elegy on Zwingli. Appropriately, Heugel worked on the Kassel courtroom for about fifty years. A couple of almost 500 functions of Heugel’s that survive, not absolutely all which are comprehensive. Features of his music included a sonorous usage of polyphony, canonic riddles, the initial German usage of a dual choir (“Consolamini, popule meus”), constructed echo results, and psalm configurations using the melody in the tenor.
