Johann Ernst Bach

A nephew of J.S. Bach, Johann Ernst was a pupil of his uncle on the Thomasschule in Leipzig from age five. Although he afterwards studied rules at Leipzig School, in early stages he came back to his indigenous Eisenach at age group 19 to be an unpaid helper to his dad, Johann Bernhard Bach, the city organist and courtroom harpsichordist. Not really until seven years afterwards, in 1748, do Johann Ernst become his father’s public (salaried) assistant, helping himself in the interim by exercising law. He been successful his dad in 1749. In 1756 he started commuting to Weimar for the key work as kapellmeister in the mixed courts of Weimar, Gotha, and Eisenach, but he restricted himself to Eisenach when that fused administrative agreement was splintered in 1758. He do, however, wthhold the kapellmeister name and salary in substitution for executing administrative duties. Being a composer of cathedral music, Johann Ernst Bach was in a few ways a conventional, objecting to contemporary tendencies and praising on the net the functions of his uncle, Telemann, and various other figures of this generation. He gained particular compliment for the original beauty of his chorales. Usually, though, he was pretty up-to-date however you like, using syncopation and chromaticism relatively in the way of his cousin C.P.E. Bach, and splashing dramatic results through his vocal items, which often experienced sophisticated accompaniments, and despite his protestations he pretty represented the existing galant style.
