Johan Wikmanson

Preliminary music lessons because of this youthful Swede received by H.P. Johnsen in thoroughbass and piano. He analyzed mathematics and device producing in Copenhagen. Much after his go back to Stockholm, 1772, he could study structure with Kraus and Abbe Vogler. Between 1772 and 1781 Wikmanson was the organist from the Dutch Reformed Chapel and in 1781 he became the organist at Storkyrkan Cathedral where he aided in rebuilding the body organ through the 1790s. By 1788 he was elected an associate from the Stockholm Royal Academy of Music, movie director of education, 1796, and instructor of tranquility and music, 1797. His most significant contribution to music was his translation of functions by Tartini and by Vogler. Wikmanson’s music was affected not merely by his friend and instructor Kraus but also by Haydn, C.P.E. Bach and Johann Schobert. Wikmanson was an achieved instrumentalist who was simply versed around the body organ, piano, viola, and cello.
