Johan Agebjörn

Gothenburg-based Swedish producer Johan Agebjörn functions in a variety of digital genres, from electro-disco and house to ambient modern, but always grounds his approach within a deep appreciation for the root base and history of digital music. He’s most widely known as the songwriter and manufacturer behind the private synth pop chanteuse Sally Shapiro, whose acclaimed 2006 LP, Disco Love, was a deliberate, verisimilar throwback towards the Italo-disco of the first ’80s — but prior to the starting of their cooperation, Agebjörn have been largely centered on ambient electro productions motivated by fellow Scandinavians like Krister Linder and Biosphere. Following success from the Sally Shapiro task as well as the inclusion from the Italo-inspired monitor “Spacer Girl from Mars” (acknowledged to Johan Agebjörn offering Sally Shapiro) on Lo Recordings’ 2007 compilation Milky Disco, Agebjörn’s long-in-the-works debut record being a single musician was finally released in the ambient label Lotuspike in 2008, and entitled Mossebo after his house and studio room. Agebjörn also continuing focusing on the Sally Shapiro task, whose second recording, My Guilty Enjoyment, was released in ’09 2009. Then adopted up his single debut with two albums in 2011, an ambient collection entitled The Hill Lake as well as the a lot more dancefloor-friendly Casablanca Evenings, which featured looks by Sally Shapiro, Wolfram, Ercola, and Lake Heartbeat. Remixes and focusing on Sally Shapiro’s 2013 recording, Somewhere Else, held Agebjörn occupied over another couple of years.
