Pianist Joey Alexander can be an extremely gifted jazz musician who 1st found the public’s interest like a prodigy prior to the age group of ten. Created Josiah Alexander Sila in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia in 2003, Alexander was released to music by his dad, an novice musician and jazz aficionado. By age group six, Alexander got taught himself how exactly to play piano by hearing albums by Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Expenses Evans, while others. Without formal teaching, and initially just playing on a little keyboard his dad had provided him, Alexander accomplished a high amount of skills. By age group eight he was jamming with regional experts, and in 2012 got the opportunity to try out for Herbie Hancock, who was simply going to Jakarta, Indonesia like a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. The next year, Alexander earned 1st place in the Get better at Jam-Fest in Odessa, Ukraine. In 2014, Alexander relocated along with his family members to NEW YORK, where Wynton Marsalis asked him to execute at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s gala. Many more high-profile displays followed, including looks in the Apollo Theatre, Juilliard, as well as the Copenhagen Jazz Event. Several performances were broadly protected, with viral video clips of the skillful Alexander showing up on-line. In 2015, Alexander released his debut recording, the Jason Olaine-produced THE BEST Things, for the Motema Music label. Documented when Alexander was just 11 years of age, the record highlighted the pianist supported by bassists Larry Grenadier and Russell Hall, drummers Sammy Miller and Ulysses Owens, Jr., and trumpeter Alphonso Horne. Featuring eight criteria and one Alexander primary, the record garnered Grammy nominations for Greatest Instrumental Jazz Record and Greatest Improvised Jazz Single. A year afterwards he shipped his sophomore record, Countdown. Made by Jason Olaine, the record featured efforts from bassist Grenadier, drummer Owens, and saxophonist Chris Potter. For his rendition from the John Coltrane-penned name track, Alexander gained a Grammy nomination for Greatest Improvised Jazz Single.
