Vocalist/songwriter Joemca — that’s pronounced “JUM-ka,” pretty much — promises classical schooling on both piano and violin, and it is armed with a CV including today’s revision of the score for the Chinese language opera, chamber music parts predicated on the functions of Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, and — assuming he’s not confusing his own use that of John Cusack’s personality in Getting John Malkovich — a puppet present predicated on Nicolai Gogol’s brief story The Nasal area. Oddly, his music as the first choice from the dreamy artwork pop quartet Joemca & Poets noises more like a far more beat-oriented edition of late-period Radiohead, with Rufus Wainwright and Björk fighting for vocal supremacy. Blessed in LA in 1982 and presently ensconced in NEW YORK, Joemca’s day careers with various regional theater companies alternative with his use Joemca & Poets, comprising himself on vocals and electric guitar, Jess Good luck on keyboards and tranquility vocals, Tucker Yaro on bass, and Alec Menge on drums. The group’s self-titled debut EP, helpfully subtitled using the pronunciation of their leader’s stage name, premiered in past due 2006 using one Stone Records.
