Joel Hoekstra

A prolific and genre-defying guitarist within the vein of six-string virtuosos like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Nuno Bettencourt, Chicago-born, NY City-based Joel Hoekstra is among the hardest functioning players for the hard rock and roll circuit. An in-demand program musician and touring person in Evening Ranger, Whitesnake, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Hoekstra in addition has made an appearance on Broadway using the strike musical Rock and roll of Age range (he produced a cameo appearance within the big screen edition aswell). Hoekstra released his debut instrumental single record, Undefined, in 2000, implemented in 2003 with the jazz fusion-driven The Moon Can be Falling as well as the artful 13 Acoustic Tracks in 2007. In 2014 he shaped the generally instrumental, melodic hard rock and roll side task Joel Hoekstra’s 13, which highlighted an all-star ensemble of hard rock and roll heavies including Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Russell Allen (vocals), Tony Franklin (bass), Vinny Appice (drums), and Derek Sherinian (keyboards). The project’s debut record, Dying to reside, premiered via Frontiers Information the following season.
