Joe Torres


A timbalero because the age group of 10, Joe Torres was raised in Spanish Harlem but moved away to LA through the mid-’50s. Through the ’60s, he made an appearance in two Elvis photos (Viva NEVADA, Fun in Acapulco) and documented his only recording, 1968’s Latino Con Spirit, for Globe Pacific. He retired from music through the ’70s, but later on returned to the business enterprise to review music at U.N.L.V.
