Joe Romano

An excellent bop-based soloist, Joe Romano is definitely underrated. He previously many stints with Woody Herman’s orchestra from 1956 before early 1970s. Romano documented in early stages with baritone horn participant Gus Mancuso (1957), caused Chuck Mangione’s Jazz Brothers in the first ’60s and was with Sam Noto for an interval (1966-67). Romano got an on-and-off musical romantic relationship with the Friend Rich Big Music group (1968-74) and in addition used Les Dark brown (1970-72) and Louie Bellson while surviving in Los Angeles. Back NY, he caused Noto (documenting with him in 1975), Chuck Israels’ Country wide Jazz Outfit, the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra (on the part-time basis) and Bellson. Romano, that has spent the majority of his profession like a freelancer, continues to be popular for bop-oriented times but never obtained much reputation except among music artists. His one recording like a innovator was cut for the Spanish Refreshing Audio label in 1987.
