Joe and Rose Maphis were a favorite husband-and-wife work in the past due ’40s and early ’50s, performing traditional materials backed by the amazing instrumental skill of Joe, who have played everything with strings onto it, especially the twin-neck electric guitar. The honky tonk anthem “Dim Lighting, Thick Smoke cigarettes (And Loud, Loud Music)” was their big strike. Until his loss of life in 1986, Joe was a periods instrumentalist, support such superstars as Rick Nelson, Tex Ritter, and Wanda Jackson.
