A fantastic drummer that has mainly been heard within the golf swing/mainstream/bop field, Joe Ascione has gained some attention for his involvement in freewheeling periods released with the German Nagel-Heyer label. Motivated by Gene Krupa (whom he fulfilled in 1971) and Pal Rich, Ascione is a regular fixture at jazz celebrations and mainstream celebrations worldwide because the early 1980s. His debut established as a head, 1997’s My Pal, is really a tribute to Pal Rich.
