Biography
As drummer for the renowned early ’70s pop group Big Superstar, Jody Stephens possesses a glimmering popularity among pop aficionados. Much less defensive regarding the tale of Big Superstar than business lead vocalist and songwriter Alex Chilton, Stephens is becoming somewhat of the ambassador to those who find themselves thinking about the stressed and turbulent tale from the short-lived group. The function of ambassador can be an suitable one since it was Stephens who continued to be using the erratic Chilton, playing drums and adding his very own composition towards the haunting Sister Lovers record, long after first people Chris Bell and Andy Hummell bailed from the group. Following the demise of Big Superstar Stephens remained on at John Fry’s Ardent Studios, where all three Big Superstar records were documented, acting being a program drummer, manufacturer and administrator for the effective studio. Lately Stephens provides added his outstanding power-pop drumming abilities to famous brands Mathew Sweet as well as the Posies while assisting to re-start the Ardent label.
