Joaquin Nin

This talented Cuban composer-pianist-musicologist was crucial to the preservation of early Spanish music. Nin constructed only a humble number of first works, mostly tracks. Nevertheless, he edited a number of important amounts of outdated Spanish music, especially through the Spanish Baroque. An extremely dedicated musician, he was embellished with high honors during his life time. Delivered in Cuba, he was taken up to Spain as a kid. After research in Barcelona, he visited Paris in 1902 to keep piano studies using the Polish-German composer-pianist Moritz Moszkowski. He also researched counterpoint and structure at D’Indy’s Schola Cantorum. In 1905 Nin was appointed piano instructor at that college, so when in 1908 he still left Paris for Berlin, the institution produced him an honorary teacher. He proved helpful in Berlin from 1908 to 1910. Time for Havana in 1910 to start out a concert culture and music periodical, then still left for travels of European countries and SOUTH USA like a pianist. In 1939, an extended period in European countries was cut brief by World Battle II. Ultimately, he came back to Cuba, where he passed away in 1949. Nin is usually survived by his child, the composer-pianist-conductor Joaquín María Nin-Culmell.
