Joao da Gente

The celebrated writer, journalist and Carnaval chronicler João da Gente was interested in Carnaval, having founded many blocos (small groups), creating awards for fancy dresses and parades and being truly a regular person in the juries who presided your competition. Debuting in theatre in 1897, he became probably one of the most well-known Carnaval composers of the first decades from the 20th hundred years in Rio de Janeiro.
