b. Memphis, Tennessee, USA. A raucous hard rock and roll/blues vocalist in the custom of Janis Joplin, Memphis vocalist Joanna Dean sings the blues within a likewise uninhibited style. Membership dates soon resulted in a major documenting agreement with Polydor Information, who released her debut record, Ain’t Misbehavin’, in 1988. Broadly acclaimed within both blues and hard rock and roll circles, it set up Dean as a significant new talent. Nevertheless, for 1990’s Poor Love she assumed much less high-profile billing behind her support band from the same name. This collection included a duet with Cinderella vocalist Tom Keifer on ‘Appreciate Hurts’, aswell as heady fresh original material.
