Big-band vocalist Joan Durell sang with many orchestras through the ’50s, including rings led by Ray Anthony and Artwork Mooney. She wedded bandleader Ray Flory (her true name getting Joan Fry Flory) in the first ’50s and, afterwards that 10 years, performed on the 1958 Monterey Jazz Celebration. Durell retired in the music business in 1960, rising just momentarily in the ’80s to business lead her own music group.
