Jimmy The Hoover

Simon Barker (b. 22 July 1956, Malta; keyboards), Derek Dunbar (b. 31 August 1958, Aberdeen, Scotland; vocals), Carla Duplantier (b. Hollywood, LA, California, USA; drums), Flinto (b. 11 March 1955, Zambia; bass) and Tag Rutherford (b. 14 Apr 1961, Hackney, London, Britain; guitar) shaped the music group in 1982. Malcolm McLaren provided them the name and a support tour with Bow Wow Wow. Cris Cole stepped in on bass electric guitar, and in 1983 they agreed upon to CBS Information subsidiary Innervision. That calendar year brought them their one strike, ‘Tantalise (Wo Wo Ee Yeh Yeh)’, an excellent pop melody with an African impact. Along with Innervision stablemates Wham! and Pet Nightlife, the group acquired ‘legal’ issues that interfered using the advertising of the next single, ‘Wipe out Me Quick’, and constrained them for most months.
