A get better at of novelty/disco funk, saxophonist Jimmy Castor started like a doo wop singer in NY. He had written and documented “I Promise to keep in mind” for Wing using the Juniors in 1956, an organization whose roster included Al Casey, Jr., Orton Graves, and Johnny Williams. Castor changed Frankie Lymon within the Teens in 1957 before switching to sax in 1960. He made an appearance on many soul-jazz and Afro-Latin classes and got a single strike with “Hey Leroy, Your Mama’s Callin’ You” on Smash in 1966. Castor also performed sax on Dave “Baby” Cortez’s strike “Rinky Dink.” He shaped the Jimmy Castor Number in 1972 and authorized with RCA. Their 1st release, It’s Simply Begun, released Castor’s next stage with the music “Troglodyte (Cave Guy).” It had been a high Ten R&B and pop smash. Castor continuing the tendency in 1975 with “The Bertha Butt Boogie” and later on documented “E-Man Boogie,” “Ruler Kong,” “Bom Bom,” and “Amazon.” The Castor music group included keyboardist/trumpeter Gerry Thomas, bassist Doug Gibson, guitarist Harry Jensen, conga participant Lenny Fridle Jr., and drummer Bobby Manigault. Thomas remaining to become listed on the Fatback Music group. Castor recorded like a single performer from 1976 until 1988.
