Jimmie Skinner

By all accounts a fringe personality within the pantheon of nation music, Jimmie Skinner held many hats during his life time, including DJ, songwriter, performer, label owner, and record salesman. Being a DJ in the first ’40s, Skinner started fooling around with songwriting and got some early achievement with a structure known as “Doin My Period” in 1941. By 1950, Skinner got shifted to Knoxville, TN, and obtained a popularity as a fairly great songwriter for bluegrass pickers and performers who preferred traditional nation designs. Jimmy Martin, for instance, had popular with Skinner’s “YOU DO NOT Know My Brain.” In 1957, Skinner was agreed upon to Mercury Information where he quickly have scored two strikes, “I CAME ACROSS My Girl within the U.S.A.” and “Dark Hollow.” Chalk it up to beginner’s good fortune, however, just because a 10 years more of executing and recording to get a half dozen brands Skinner never have scored another major strike.
