We were young in suburban Chicago and consuming the folk, blues, and early rock and roll traditions that the town offered, Jim Move started his musical evolution as an associate of Midwest rockers the Bald Willies before uprooting to Frankfurt, Germany, and learning to be a street musician. Having experienced thusly for his art, Roll came back stateside to help expand sharpen his abilities while striking the folk golf club circuit. By Oct of 1996, Roll’s reflective songwriting and occasionally bizarre stage persona experienced resulted in a big following, an archive contract, along with a debut discharge in 1998’s Prepared to Hang up. After playing a lot of the huge American vocalist/songwriter festivals, Move agreed upon to New Western world Information in 1999 and teamed using the Silos’ Walter Salas-Humara to record his follow-up, Lunette. Sketching on even more eclectic and older noises, Lunette garnered significant important praise. Then signed using the Telegraph Business, a Brooklyn-based label which he released his third full-length, 2002’s Inhabiting the Ball. This record features tracks co-written with two of Roll’s preferred modern writers, Dennis Johnson (Jesus’ Boy) and Rick Moody (The Glaciers Surprise) and was extremely well-received. It had been named in the very best ten on Amazon editors’ Greatest of 2002 rock and roll list, amongst others.
