Jim Robinson

Jim Robinson was an extremely reliable New Orleans trombonist who was simply a lot more consistent than a lot of the music artists he performed with, never seeming with an off day time. A jazz pioneer, Robinson performed guitar as a kid and began playing trombone in 1917, while stationed in France during Globe Battle I; he had been 24. He began employed in New Orleans in 1919 with Child Rena, the Golden Leaf Music group, as well as the Tuxedo Music group. In 1923, Robinson became area of the Morgan music group which, under Sam Morgan’s management, had a documenting program in 1927. He was a fixture in New Orleans for many years, using many local organizations while business days in the 1930s like a longshoreman. Robinson was portion of Child Rena’s 1940 documenting session and became a member of Bunk Johnson’s music group in 1942, conference up with George Lewis. He came back to New Orleans with Lewis in 1946, and was an integral part of Lewis’ well-known music group through the 1950s and ’60s, touring the globe and recording thoroughly. He was the very best musician in the Preservation Hall Jazz Music group in the 1970s, remaining energetic until his loss of life at age group 83.
