Jim Diamond

The principle engineer at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit, Jim Gemstone has played an instrumental role in the evolution from the city’s R&B. Although he’s performed bass in the Dirtbombs, baritone 12-string electric guitar using the Witches, and body organ with his very own music group, Jim Diamond’s Pop Monsoon, he’s produced his very best impression as an extremely creative maker and documenting engineer. He manufactured and created the multi-artist compilation Ghettoblaster: A Detroit Music Sampler, Vol. 1 in 1997 and continued to engineer recordings from the Dirtbombs, the Crimson Aunts, and Slumber Party, and make Hip Check!, the next album from the Arrive Ons. He was in charge of extra recordings by Bantam Rooster, the Dirtys, Andre Williams, the Blowtops, the Silencers, and les Sexareenos. He made an appearance, using the Wildbunch, beneath the alias Expenses Clinton.
