Like so numerous others, acquiring his initial motivation from his initial hearing of Bob Dylan, vocalist and guitarist Jim Boyes’ early repertoire consisted completely of the tracks on Dylan’s initial two albums. After developing through to farms in North Yorkshire, he was persuaded by his Methodist parents to pursue a profession rather than simply continue his infatuation with rock and roll ‘n’ move, and he researched Materials Sciences at Bradford College or university. However, he shortly found another house in Bradford’s Subject Folk club. Ultimately he fulfilled Dave and Heather Brady on the close by Bradshaw Tavern near Halifax, eventually forming the extremely effective Swan Arcade. While that group increased to prominence, with Boyes’ electric guitar and bass harmonies playing a pivotal function, he continuing to acquire his living teaching research at a Bradford college.
