1920s blues fiddler Jim Booker recorded with Taylor’s Kentucky Males and his own group, Booker Orchestra. He was created in Jessamine Region in Kentucky and discovered to try out fiddle from his dad, a previous slave. In 1927, Jim Booker produced two outings to Gennett’s Indiana studios to record hill tunes with Taylor’s Kentucky Males, including “Grey Eagle.” He also documented “Salty Dog” and “Camp Nelson Blues.” Throughout that trip along with his string music group Booker Orchestra, including his more youthful brothers, Joe and John Booker on guitars, and neighbor Robert Steele on kazoo.
