Jesse Taylor

Best remembered while the ferocious business lead guitarist behind nation maverick Joe Ely, Jesse Taylor was created in Lubbock, TX, in 1950. Motivated by local guy made good Pal Holly, he started playing electric guitar as a teenager and by age group 15 was portion in Jimmie Dale Gilmore’s initial group, the T. Nickel Home Band. After seeking a career being a Golden Gloves boxer, Taylor channeled most of his energies into music, getting the initial white action to receive a residency at Lubbock’s renowned Stubbs Bar-B-Q. He became a member of Ely with time for the vocalist/songwriter’s self-titled 1977 debut LP, a cult traditional bettered by its follow-up, Honky Tonk Masquerade. While industrial country radio wished nothing in connection with these albums, Ely gained very much acclaim from rock and roll & roll viewers and critics, even though touring the U.K. to get Merle Haggard, he and Taylor befriended the famous punk music group the Clash, whom they backed on the highway in 1979. Taylor’s visceral, live cable guitar work produced a massive impression within the Clash’s punk viewers, and a London gig later on formed the foundation from the 1980 concert LP Live Photos. Taylor however exited Ely’s rates two years later on, settling in Austin and collaborating with Billy Joe Shaver, Butch Hancock, and Townes Vehicle Zandt. Throughout a stint in drug abuse treatment, he also started painting, and in following years was the main topic of several gallery displays. Taylor released his 1st solo LP, Tx Tattoo, in 1998. South Part Guitar, a task with fellow guitarist John X. Reed, adopted in 2001. Taylor passed away from problems of hepatitis C and cirrhosis on March 7, 2006.
