Jerry Steinhilber

Jerry Steinhilber began to play percussion and mallet keyboards in age 12. Immediately after, his fascination with jazz awoke when he found out Kilometers Davis’ Milestones. He continued to review jazz in senior high school with the Berklee College of Music. After around three years in Boston and disappointed by the training he received, he made a decision to work on cruise lines where he honed his bandleading abilities and started to test while remaining immersed in jazz. Within the middle-’80s, he became a member of the rhythm portion of a Manhattan Transfer-type clothing touring the internet casino/vacation resort circuit. A year or two later, following a brief stint seeking to perform jazz in Santa Barbara, he shifted to Phoenix where he performed Best 40 dance music that allowed him to master his timing playing alongside drum devices and sequencers. In the first ’90s, Steinhilber shifted to LA where he dove back to his original like: jazz. There, he befriended Jeff Hamilton, used Eric Marienthal, Pete Christlieb, as well as the Clayton Brothers, amongst others, and researched for just two years the technicians from the sticks with Murray Spivak. Within the middle-’90s, the drummer shifted to Chicago to spotlight teaching and composing for ensembles.
