Jerry Livingston

Composer Jerry Livingston was created Gerald Levinson on March 25, 1909, in Denver, CO. After completing his research at the School of Az, he performed piano within a Denver dance combo, also composing a small number of collegiate stage productions before relocating to NEW YORK in 1932. Livingston shortly scored his initial hit, “IF IT IS Darkness in the Delta,” in cooperation with Marty Symes; the duo reunited the next season for “Under a Blanket of Blue,” searching for third-party the help of Al J. Neiberg to comprehensive “It is the Chat of the city.” Livingston also teamed with composer Al Hoffman and lyricist Milton Drake for several hits, included in this “I’m a huge Girl Today,” “She Broke My Heart in Three,” “Ashby De La Zooch,” “If I’m Not really Back in 5 MINUTES,” and, most famously, the 1943 smash “Mairzy Doats.” After composing “Blue and Sentimental” with Count number Basie, Livingston more and more began concentrating his energies on Hollywood; his rating towards the 1950 Disney cartoon feature Cinderella produced the Oscar-nominated “A Wish Is certainly a Wish Your Heart Makes” and he also constructed music for 1951’s cartoon Alice in Wonderland, and a variety of Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis comedies. For tv, Livingston also authored designs for Casper, the Friendly Ghost and 77 Sunset Remove ahead of his loss of life in 1987.
