Cologne-based musician Jens-Uwe Beyer creates atmospheric, melodic tech-house that ventures into song-based synth-pop aswell as even more experimental ambient functions. Beneath the moniker Popnoname, he started launching singles and EPs on German brands Company and Italic in 2005, and was a normal contributor to Kompakt’s lauded Pop Ambient compilation series. Popnoname’s debut full-length, Light Album, premiered by Italic in 2007, and was accompanied by Encircled by Climate in 2008. 2 yrs later on, Japanese label Plaza In-Crowd released Encircled by Mars, a remix recording offering reworks by performers like the Field and Ada. That same 12 months, Beyer co-founded experimental music and artwork label Publication along with Barnt and Crato. The label’s debut launch was Render, a restricted EP by Cologne Tape, a supergroup offering all three from the label’s founders aswell as Axel Willner (the Field), Kompakt mainstay Jörg Burger, as well as others. In 2011, Beyer released a collaborative recording with Drums Off Chaos, a percussion-heavy task spearheaded by Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit. Also in 2011, the three founders of Publication released their 1st work under that name, an abstract home EP entitled Concerts, Festivals, Displays and Other Unique Events. Beyer’s 1st solo launch under his personal name came by the end of 2012 using the launch of Red Publication, an individual 80-minute long monitor. Popnoname came back in 2013 with 50 Levels, the project’s most collaborative and song-based work however. In 2015, Beyer released an experimental ambient recording under his personal name within Kompakt’s Pop Ambient designer recording sublabel.
