Taking an early on inspiration of classic country that appears up to Johnny Funds and Hank Williams, Jeff Smith grit of dirt road Americana captured the experience of small town innocents. Using the support of people from Mary Chapin Carpenter’s support band, Acetate Information debuted Smith’s first record in 1996. Entitled The Individual Wilderness, the eventual evaluations of Wilco, Tom Petty and Steve Earle critically resulted as Smith implemented with a little U.S. tour that same calendar year.
