While they stay linked with the zouk custom, their music mixes affects of Haitian music, Cuban salsa, and traditional Antillean and African rhythms. Produced as a little combo in 1981, Jean-Michel Cabrimol & La Mafia performed in NY and Paris a calendar year afterwards. In November 1997, the group extended to add trumpet, saxophone, flute, trombone, bugle, three violins, two guitars, congas, bongos, timbales, piano, bass, and drums.
