Jean-Louis Matinier

b. Borges, France. Classically educated but a jazz musician by choice, Matinier’s primary instrument may be the accordion. Although befitting a Paris-based musician, the accordion is fairly unusual in both traditional music and jazz. Sketching his repertoire from both these areas of music, the effect is best referred to as globe music but there’s also strenuous dashes of southern Western folk music. He performed in the Country wide Orchestre De Jazz beneath the path of Claude Barthélémy through the past due 80s and early 90s, playing concerts and record times. In the first 00s, Matinier led and in addition recorded having a music group that contained in its rates Renaud Garcia-Fons (bass), Nelson Veras (acoustic guitar) and Bobby Rangell (flute). Among music artists with whom he offers played and occasionally documented are vibraphonist David Friedman, oud participant Anouar Brahem, and saxophonist Louis Sclavis. Along with his uncommon repertoire and unusual instrument, Martinier offers attracted favourable interest from viewers and critics as well.
