San Diego-based rapper Jayo Felony (aka Bullet Loco or Peer Pressure) considered music after spending his young years inside a gang, a choice that ultimately led to a stint in prison; after documenting a small number of underground tapes he released the solitary “Piss on your own Tombstone,” offering it on consignment at regional record shops. The solitary brought him to the eye of Run-D.M.C.’s Jam Get better at Jay, who authorized Felony to his JMJ label release a 1994’s Go for a ride; after the disk quickly vanished from view, it got four years for the rapper to resurface along with his sophomore work, the Def Jam launch Whatcha Gonna Perform? Underground adopted in 1999.
