Jay Electronica

Probably one of the most talked-about rappers of 2008, Jay Electronica built his status via the web and person to person, without a lot as an individual commercial launch to his credit. Created Je’Ri Allah in 1976, he was raised in the Magnolia tasks of New Orleans, where he resided until age group 19. In the years that adopted, he resided a nomadic life-style, moving backwards and forwards between Atlanta, NY, Detroit, and Baltimore, among various other cities. He followed the Jay Electronica alias while surviving in Baltimore circa 2000. While in Detroit, he befriended affiliates of J Dilla, functioning carefully with engineer Mike “Chav” Chavarria and collaborating with manufacturer Denaun Porter (aka Mr. Porter). Being a rapper, he distributed his recordings via the web, mainly his MySpace web page. Among these Internet-circulated recordings, several stood out and helped build a hype: “Action 1,” an epic homemade rap over Jon Brion’s rating for the film Eternal Sunlight from the Spotless Brain; “Bitches and Medications,” a J Dilla creation; “Extra Extra,” a Madlib creation; as well as the StyleWars EP. The term of mouth area didn’t harm, either, as Erykah Badu, Simply Blaze, Nas, among others spoke extremely of Jay Electronica in the mass media. Moreover, Badu apparently produced him the initial signee of her Control FreaQ Information label.
