Javon Jackson

An excellent tenor saxophonist influenced by Joe Henderson, Javon Jackson keeps the legacy of Artwork Blakey and very difficult bop alive. He was raised in Cleveland and Denver, and analyzed at Berklee (1984-1986). Jackson was using the last edition from the Jazz Messengers (1987-1990) and, after Blakey’s loss of life, he caused the Harper Brothers, Benny Green, Freddie Hubbard, and Elvin Jones. Javon Jackson offers recorded like a innovator for Criss Mix and Blue Notice, including 1991’s Burnin’ completely to 2008’s Once Upon a Melody. Also in 2008, Jackson made an appearance live with soul-jazz story Les McCann.
