Jason Roebke

Avant-garde bassist Jason Roebke grew up in Kaukauna, WI, and he began using bass at age group 14. After graduating from Lawrence School, he transferred to Madison, WI, to review with Chicago jazz star Roscoe Mitchell. He gained a master’s level from the School of Michigan in 1998, after that briefly trained at Albion University before shifting to Chicago the next season. Since his entrance in Chicago, Roebke provides performed with lots of the city’s most well-known avant jazz music artists, including Ken Vandermark, Jeb Bishop, Jeff Parker, Chad Taylor, and Rob Mazurek. In 2001 and 2002, Roebke performed on two recordings led by Fred Lonberg-Holm, A Valentine for Fred Katz and Terminal 4’s When I’m Falling. He also frequently appeared on disk with guitarist Scott Areas. Roebke in addition has made numerous travels to Japan, executing with music artists like Toshimaru Nakamura, Taku Sugimoto, and Tetuzi Akiyama. Since 1998, Roebke in addition has performed with Artwork Union Humanscape, a duo with dancer Ayako Kato. Tigersmilk, which highlighted Roebke alongside Mazurek and percussionist Dylan truck der Schyff, premiered in 2003.
