Jason Moran

Harlem citizen Jason Moran brings a distinctly artistic contact to his jazz compositions and piano using. The impressionistic strategy of visible and musical performers like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Maurice Ravel inspire Moran’s playing and composing design, on both his very own compositions and his use jazz contemporaries like Cassandra Wilson, Steve Coleman, Greg Osby, and Stefon Harris. All Rise: A Joyful Elegy for Excess fat Waller, a cooperation partly with Meshell Ndegeocello, found its way to 2014. He was a presented soloist within the Boston Contemporary Orchestra Project’s documenting of Mason Bates: Mothership, released in early 2016. THAT COULD, he received a Doris Duke Designer Award.
